Our Sustainable Approach

The problem

Our oceans are flooded with plastic waste. Each year, 640k tons of ghost nets are dumped at sea (the same weight as 55,000 double-decker buses). In addition to this, plastic waste enters the sea from rivers or human consumption.

46% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch consists of lost or dumped fishing nets. Once it’s there, it begins to harm or kill all kinds of sea life, including fish, turtles, penguins, sea lions, dolphins, and whales.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Nets will decompose after 600-800 years, and they will further contaminate oceans and animals with microplastics.

Unless we, the fishermen, do something about it.

Our solution

We remove, transport, and clean discarded fishing nets from nearshore collection points in Southeast Asia. Right after we begin with a recycling process. The resulting pellets are used for handcrafting the fishing lures you see right now.

They are designed to work on a combination of 1) closing the pollution at the source, and 2) cleaning up what has already accumulated in the ocean and doesn’t go away by itself.

Every Alternative lure more in your tackle box means you cleaned up to 10oz of ghost nets.

They are the statement and proof that you care about the future of our oceans and seas. Because no lure is good enough to catch a fish in waters in which there are none.

The Source:

Ghost nets are removed from various collection areas in Southeast Asia. Why there? Because that’s where more than 60% of marine plastics is concentrating. Apart from that, we're also recovering around 20% of our ocean plastic from Japan and South America.

While bringing this project to life, we've developed an international team of passionate and hard-working people willing to support our cause and fight daily to end the ocean plastic crisis.

To be completely environmentally compliant and sure that material source is truly from the ocean, we’ve leveraged relationships with some of the largest certification providers.
